Varsity Football · Hornets rack up 568 total yards of offense in 43-25 win over Morristown West.


Strawberry Plains, TN – Coach Pressley’s team has shown glimpses of greatness all season long, and today in the second quarter everything started clicking for the Hornets. West started the scoring with a 32 yard Field Goal with 4:44 to go in the first quarter, but the Hornets quickly answered with a 32 yard FG of their own to tie it at 3-3. The ensuing kickoff saw the Trojans race 94 yards by Tison Johnson and the Trojans wrestled the momentum away 10-3. While the first quarter was winding down Chandler Wilson found Anthony Stocker for 36 yards and a Carter TD, the PAT was no good. Carter would trail 10-9 at the end of 1. The the onslaught ensued Carter blew the game wide open with 27 unanswered points in the 2nd quarter.  Wilson to Stocker 43 yards, Wilson to Reynolds for 20 yards, Max Bailey would throw a TD to Kaleb Harper and then Wilson would find Harper again for a 14 yard TD and with :28 seconds to go in the half a 10-9 deficit would blossom into a 36-10 advantage for the men in green. West would finally answer right before half as Dylan Cribley would dive in from 1 yard out. The Hornets would take a 36-17 lead in to half. Carter would register their last TD of the game in the 3rd quarter as Sophomore QB Chandler Wilson would find Freshman WR Brody Blankenship in the end zone for an 8 yard strike and a 43-17 lead. The 4th quarter would see plenty of reserves from the Hornets and the Trojans would score with 10:40 to go. The final score would go down as a 43-25 Hornet victory. This marks Carter’s 5th win of the season which will be the most since 2014, and the 43 points since the most the Hornets have scored at home since 2015 (46-34 win over Halls. The Big Green will be in action next Friday at home against Region 2-5A foe Knoxville Central, kickoff is at 7:30.
