The Hornets have had their ups and downs in 2019 and through 3 Quarters it seemed Carter was going to endure another down. With 11:10 left in the game the Hornet defense forced Morristown West into a punt that netted -8 yards, the punt was picked up by Preston McNew and he went 1 yard to give the Hornets a push, a BIG push. Trailing 21-7 Carter would wrestle away momentum and force the Trojans to punt again and with 7:19 remaining Chandler Wilson would find Gabe Harper in the back corner of the end zone to move the Hornets closer 21-14. The Hornet defense was asked to make a stand one more time but the Trojans would pick up several first downs and on 4th and 1 from the 13 they would get stopped short. The final Hornet drive would need to be 87 yards in 2:09. A sack forced the Green into 2nd and Long and 3rd and long a pass interference penalty would get a majority of the yards back. Wilson found Anthony Stocker for 35 yards and Carter was in business at the 49. Coach Meadows would dip into his bag of tricks and call the hook & ladder Wilson to McNew and McNew lateral to Harper would make it first and goal Hornets at the 7. Wilson would eventually find McNew in the end zone from 3 yards out, Caleb Chunn would nail his 3rd PAT of the game to tie the score with :06 left. Morristown West would take a knee and this game would go to overtime. The Hornets would win the toss and elect to go on defense first. West would gain 3 yards on first down but on 2nd and 3rd down they would test Austin Ramsey and twice they would be denied. Morristown West would settle for a field goal attempt and a bobbled snap would spell doom for the Trojans as they were held scoreless. Carter would only need one play to put the nail in the coffin as Anthony Stocked would scamper around left end to clinch the victory. Carter improves to 3-4 and will be off next week.
